Add or remove topic/week sections in a moodle course

Topic sections are the large content zones on the main page of each moodle course. You can accommodate the amount of content in your course by reducing or increasing the number of the sections that are shown (14 or 15 by default).

  1. In the 'Settings' block, choose Edit settings under Course administration.

  2. In the General settings area, scroll down until about the middle of the box. Once there, use the Number of weeks/topics dropdown to select how many sections or weeks there will be in the course.

  3. When finished, click the Save changes button at the bottom of the page.

    Note: Course content located in topics numbered higher than the number assigned in the course settings is not deleted from the course - it is only hidden (ex., if there is content in week six and you reduce the number of weeks to four, areas five and six are hidden from view). To reveal the content again, simply increase the number of topics shown.
