RemoteLab Access for iPad and Android Tablets (Students, Faculty, Staff)

Augsburg College provides its student, faculty and staff the ability to use Windows 7 and certain windows applications over the internet, via a remote session to a server. This service is known as RemoteLab.

There is another article on Knowledgebase that will help you connect your PC or Mac to RemoteLab. However, its now becoming more and more common for people to use tablets and possibly even mobile devices as a replacement to their computer.If you fit this demographic with an iPad or Android tablet, this guide will help you connect your tablet to Augsburg's RemoteLab!


RemoteLab on iPad and Android

  1. Unlock your device to the home screen and open the App Store.

  2. Search for Microsoft Remote Desktop and "Get" the app. 

  3. Wait until the app is done downloading onto your home screen, tap to start it.

  4. Click on the "+" to the top right.

  5. Click "Desktop".

  6. Click on the "PC Name" field and type in "remotelab.augsburg.edu" without quotes. Enter ad\username with your username in the User Account field.

  7. Click "Save"

  8. Tap the "remotelab.augsburg.edu" icon

  9. You should be quickly connected to a "Windows" log-in screen.
