RemoteLab Access for iPad and Android Tablets (Students, Faculty, Staff)

Augsburg College provides its student, faculty and staff the ability to use Windows 7 and certain windows applications over the internet, via a remote session to a server. This service is known as RemoteLab.

There is another article on Knowledgebase that will help you connect your PC or Mac to RemoteLab. However, its now becoming more and more common for people to use tablets and possibly even mobile devices as a replacement to their computer.If you fit this demographic with an iPad or Android tablet, this guide will help you connect your tablet to Augsburg's RemoteLab!


RemoteLab on iPad

  1. Unlock your device to the home screen and open the App Store.


  2. Search for 2X. Click "Free" and "Install."


  3. Wait until the app is done downloading onto your home screen, tap to start it.


  4. Click on the "+" to the top right.


  5. Click RDP Connection.


  6. Click on the address field and type in "remotelab.augsburg.edu"


  7. Click on the Username and Password fields and enter in your Augsburg (Novell) username and password. Once completed, click "Save"


  8. You should now be at a page that says "Connections." Click on the "remotelab.aug..." connection
  9. You should be quickly connected to a "Windows Server 2008" log-in screen. If you don't see it (your screen is solid teal), you might need to pinch to zoom out.
    Click on the icon that displays your username below. If not available, click on "Novell Login" and re-enter your username and password. Click the blue arrow to continue.
  10. Your iPad should now connect you to a Windows session, and give you access to Augsburg provided applications! Enjoy!!


RemoteLab on Android

  1. Unlock your device to the home screen and open the Google Play store.


  2. Search for 2X. Click "Free" and "Install."


  3. Wait until the app is done downloading onto your home screen, tap to start it.


  4. Click on the "+" to the top right.


  5. Click RDP Connection.


  6. Click on the address field and type in "remotelab.augsburg.edu"


  7. Click on the Username and Password fields and enter in your Augsburg (Novell) username and password. Once completed, click "Save"


  8. You should now be at a page that says "Connections." Click on the "remotelab.aug..." connection
  9. You should be quickly connected to a "Windows Server 2008" log-in screen. If you don't see it (your screen is solid teal), you might need to pinch to zoom out.
