It affected only actions you took in Gmail for iOS, Gmail in a mobile browser, and Gmail Offline, and not Gmail in a web browser or Gmail for Android.

If you were affected, you received a message from Augsburg IT the week of 1/28/2014.

The issue is now fixed. However, you must take action to re-file these messages in Gmail by February 14, 2014.

What to do now

We recommend that you check your Trash and Spam folders for any items that you didn’t intend to delete or mark as spam. You can restore any misfiled messages by moving them back to your Inbox or intended folder.

IMPORTANT: Please move these messages from the Trash and Spam folders by February 14 (messages are permanently deleted 30 days after they’re placed in the Trash).

Also, you may find messages in your inbox that you originally intended for Trash, Spam or other folders, and will need to move these messages.

When clicking the "Webmail" link from Inside Augsburg opens a personal Gmail account instead of your Augsburg email, try one of the following options. If using Augsburg computers, it is best to always access personal Gmail via an incognito or private browsing tab. Otherwise, Google tries to be helpful by opening the last Gmail account accessed on your computer.

1. Sign out of Gmail by clicking in the upper right corner (either click on the email address or your picture, then select Sign out).
   
   
   
   
2. Go directly to www.gmail.com and enter your Augsburg email address but do not enter your password. Click "Enter" (or the equivalent button) as if you are logging in. Gmail will redirect you to Inside Augsburg. Here you will enter you username and password, as usual. At this point, webmail should open for you.
   
   
   
3. You can also open a private browsing window in Firefox or incognito browsing window in Chrome (keyboard shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + N). For Safari, click File > New Private Window. The reality is that many people have multiple Gmail accounts (Augsburg webmail runs on Gmail), so using a private browsing window keeps Google from automatically connecting you to an account.
   
   
   
4. Use one browser for Augsburg email and another for personal email. For example, use FireFox for personal email and use Chrome for Augsburg email.

1. Click on "More"
2. You should see "Spam" as an option

If you still do not see your Spam label, click on the Settings button (gear icon) and then the Labels tab across the top of the Settings area.  

In the System Labels column, find "Spam".  Then click on "show" in the "Show in label list" column.

Click the gear icon in the upper right of any of these services, and choose "Help"

Choose "Settings" or "Labs" (where available) for additional options.
