You may need to change a setting so that your Wi-Fi status will appear in the menu bar.  (These instructions are for MacOS 10.6 and above.  If you have a different version, contact the TechDesk for assistance.)

  1. Go to the Apple Menu and open System Preferences.  Then, select the "Network" preference pane.
  2. Choose Wi-Fi from the left-hand sidebar.
  3. On the right side of the window, check the box labeled "Show Wi-Fi status in menu bar".
  4. You should now see the Wi-Fi icon near the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
