Unzipping Files from Moodle (Windows)
Posted by Eric Ratsabouth on 13 November 2012 10:53 AM

It is likely that your instructor will try to send you multiple documents from Moodle to your WebMail. These documents will arrive in your WebMail inbox as a zip folder. In order for you to access the documents you will have to extract the files from the zip folder. If you do not have an option to extract on your computer, you will have to download either the WinZip or 7-zip programs. The links to download those programs are posted below. The TechDesk is always available to help with the installation of WinZip and 7-zip. Stop by if you run into any issues.

WinZip

7-zip

  1. Locate and open the message in your WebMail

  2. Click "save as"

  3. Choose where you would like to save the zip folder

In this example, I have chosen to save it to my "Desktop" for quicker access.

  4. Find the zip folder you saved. Right click and hit "extract all"

  5. Choose where you would like to extract the files. I have also chosen to extract the files to my desktop. When the extraction is done, a new folder will appear with the files in it.

  6. Your files should now be accessible in a new folder
