conserving printer paper (Faculty/Staff/Students)

We encourage all students to assess their printing usage so that they can conserve pages when possible.  You may find the following resources useful to reduce the number of pages you print:

  • Consider reducing the scale for printing in Firefox.  Then, use print preview in Firefox to see that you will get a desired result.  You can always revert to the default "Shrink to fit Page Width" setting next to the scale setting.  In firefox, you can also highlight the portion of a page you need to print and choose "Selection" from the print dialog to print the highlighted portion.
  • When printing PDFs in Adobe reader, you can print multiple pages per sheet.  From the print dialog, click on the drop-down box next to "Page Scaling" and choose "Multiple pages per sheet."
  • Most printers on campus can print double-sided pages.  In the print dialog of the program you are using, select a campus printer, then click properties.  In the window that appears, click "Printing Shortcuts," then "Two-sided printing," then click ok.  You will need to do this whenever you want to print double-sided.
