What is a podcast?

According to Wikipedia (January 25, 2019), "A podcast...is an episodic series of digital audio or video files which a user can download in order to listen to. It is often available for subscription, so that new episodes are automatically downloaded via web syndication to the user's own local computer, mobile application, or portable media player."

Options for Podcasting at Augsburg

  1. Apps for SMART Phones/Tablets

    a. Anchor - simple podcasting app for iOS or Android

You can start recording by holding the phone up to your ear, and invite other folks to participate remotely. Once you’ve recorded some segments, you can shuffle them around, edit individual audio files, and publish the finished work to major podcasting platforms. You can even opt into sponsorships and start getting paid.

    b. Kanetus - podcasting app for creating audio tours that anyone can listen to

    c. iTunes Podcasts - publish podcasts on iTunes: https://itunespartner.apple.com/en/podcasts/overview
  2. Creating Mini-Podcasts for Class Assignments

    1. Use the Voice Memo app on your SMART phone and upload the file to either Moodle or Google Drive where the link may be shared with the course instructor. This option has become a popular way for study abroad students to reflect on learning while traveling. Voice recordings may be uploaded when there is adequate Internet signal.

    2. Check out a digital recorder from the Lindell Library circulation desk. After recording, upload the file to Moodle or Google Drive.

  3. Podcasting studios

Access professional grade equipment located in the Emerging Technology Lab in Foss. Contact Professor Jenny Hanson for information.
