Recording Voicemail Greetings
Posted by Erin Voss on 15 July 2009 01:22 PM

There are several different greetings that you should record in your Augsburg voicemail.

  • Internal greeting: This greeting is played to on-campus callers when they are directed into your voicemail.

  • External greeting:  This greeting is played to off-campus callers when they are directed into your voicemail.

  • Temporary greeting: This greeting is played to any caller until it expires when they are directed into your voicemail.
  • Personal verification: This "snippet" is played to callers when you are on the phone.  This is not a full greeting, but just your name, or perhaps your name and title and extension.  For example, if you record "Jane Smith, extension 1000" as your personal verification, callers will hear "Jane Smith, extension 1000, is on the phone".

To record or change your greetings, first dial into the voicemail system.

Then press [8] [*] [2] to enter the Greetings menu.

Once in the Greetings menu:

  • Press [1] to record or modify your external greeting.
  • Press [2] to record or modify your internal greeting.
  • Press [3] to record or modify your temporary greeting.  After recording press [9] to set the expiration date and time.
  • Press [9] to record or modify your personal verification.
