Using Remote Desktop Connection for Windows and Mac (Faculty/Staff)

Remote Desktop is available to people with Augsburg College accounts who need access to a windows application from off-campus. rdp.augsburg.edu hosts these applications through Microsoft Remote Desktop Services. This article covers how to connect rdp.augsburg.edu from both a Windows PC and a Mac. To connect to rdp.augsburg.edu you'll need a broadband internet connection.

Connect to RDP from a Windows PC (Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7):

Manually configure your client to connect to rdp.augsburg.edu:
  1. From the Windows Start Menu, choose Programs > Accessories > Remote Desktop Connection

  2. Enter rdp.augsburg.edu into the Computer field.

  3. Choose Connect.

  4. You may receive a warning dialog that "The identity of the remote computer cannot be verified.  Do you want to connect anyway?" Choose Connect.



  5. Enter your Augsburg username and password. Choose the Login Arrow to begin your session.

Connect to RDP from Mac OS X using Remote Desktop Connection 2

 Manually configure your Mac client to connect to rdp.augsburg.edu:
  1. Browse to Macintosh HD > Applications > Remote Desktop Connection.

  2. Enter rdp.augsburg.edu into the Computer field.



  3. Choose Connect.

  4. If you are prompted for a username, password and domain just leave these blank and click OK.



  5. You may receive a warning dialog that "The identity of the remote computer cannot be verified.  Do you want to connect anyway?" That's just fine. Click Connect.



  6. When you see the "Log on to Novell Network" screen login with your usual AugNet username and password.
