Using Dates for Course Section Headings
Posted by Eric Strom on 02 March 2015 11:43 AM

The Collapsed topics format in Moodle gives the option to automatically list the date range for each week in your course based on the start date of your course. This can eliminate the need to modify each section header when migrating content from a previous course.

  1. In the Administration block, select Edit settings under Course administration.

  2. In the General settings for the course, update the "Course start date" using the pulldown menus or the calendar icon.
Note: The day of the course start date will be considered the first day of the week for all course sections.
For example, if the start date falls on a Monday and you want each section to display as Sunday through Saturday, you should set the course start date to be the Sunday prior to the actual course start date.

  3. Expand the Course format settings and change "Set structure" to "Week"

  4. At the bottom of the settings page, click "Save changes".

  5. Your course section headings will now display a date range for each week based on the course start date.
